Mission: The Hill Country Youth Chorus provides youth with a choral music experience where successive levels of high artistic achievement and performance are fostered in each participant. It is also intended to supplement and enhance the music training students receive in school.
Auditions: Held in May, August, September and January; by appointment, in the Music Building at Texas State University- San Marcos
Eligibility: Boys and girls, with unchanged voices, ages 7-16.
Ensembles: There are three different choirs for singers: Prelude Choir – Comprised of all singers in HCYC ages 7-8; Bravo Chorale – Comprised of all singers in HCYC ages 9-16; Encore Ensemble – Smaller select group of singers with more advanced musicianship skills.
Rehearsal Schedule for Bravo Chorale: Weekly on Mondays, 6:30-7:45 pm, in Rm 222 in the Music Building at Texas State University- San Marcos (corner of North LBJ and Sessom).
Prelude Choir rehearses from 6:20-7:00 pm, in Rm 221 in the Music Building.
Cost: Tuition per semester- $60 for Bravo Chorale and $45 for Prelude Choir; Uniform cost- $50 for Bravo Chorale and $22 for Prelude Choir. Payment plans are available.
Repertoire: Selected from the highest quality music literature, including folk songs and music of other cultures.
