19Texas State Chorale, Texas State Merge Dance Co. & Shay Ishii Dance Co.
Texas State Chorale joined with Texas State Merge Dance Company and the Austin-based Shay Ishii Dance Company to present an evening of dance and sound. The concert was a fusion of dance with vocal and choral compositions by outstanding contemporary composers including Morten Lauridsen, Eric Whitacre, and Dominick DiOrio. Location: Evans Auditorium, Texas State University campus at 730pm.
20Texas State University Singers
The mixed ensemble Texas State University Singers presented their spring concert on April 20th. Music included John Rutter’s Requiem with chamber orchestra and organ as well as a performance of the recently published work A Dome of Many-Coloured Glass by Dominick DiOrio. Special guests: Cheryl Parrish, soprano, and Sigifredo Santana, marimba. Location: Evans Auditorium, Texas State University campus at 730pm.
21Texas State Men’s Choir and Women’s Choir Joint Concert
The Texas State Men’s Choir and Texas State Women’s Choir joined forces to present a joint end-of-semester concert. Special guests: Juli Wood, soprano, and Todd Oxford, saxophone. Location: Evans Auditorium, Texas State University campus at 3pm.
VocaLibre performed their end-of-semester concert. Location: St. Mark’s Episcopal Church (3039 Ranch Road 12, San Marcos) at 730pm.
13Texas State University Singers at ACDA
Texas State University Singers were invited to be the demonstration choir for the College and University Reading Session at the National Convention for ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) in Dallas on March 13 at 8am, Cathedral de Guadalupe.
26Texas Lutheran Children’s Choir Festival
The Hill Country Youth Chorus performed at the Texas Lutheran Children’s Choir Festival at Texas Lutheran University, Seguin, TX.
VocaLibre, Texas State’s dynamic and versatile a cappella group, performed a night of song, dance, inspiration, and holiday classics. The 17-voice group, in true VocaLibre style, wove together music spanning genres and generations, from choral standards, holiday classics and carols, to world music, contemporary pop and classic folk. The Concert was titled Dance With Me, and centered on themes of entering life’s dance: living fully, freely, and connecting to one another. The concert included imaginative sets and lighting, and featured some of Texas State’s finest dancers, under the direction of Shay Hartung-Ishii. December 1st at 730pm in Evans Auditorium.

The Hill Country Youth Chorus performed their holiday concert on December 2nd at 7pm in Evans Auditorium.
5Texas State Chorale with the Texas State Trombone Choir
The Texas State Chorale and Texas State Trombone Choir performed Ralph Vaughn-Williams’ “Fantasia on Christmas Carols” and other holiday favorites on December 5th at 7pm in the Music Building lobby. Kristen Simpson and Dr. Martin McCain, conductors, and Mr. Ron Ulen, baritone soloist.
10TX State Univ. Singers with guest composer Amnon Wolman
The Texas State University Singers performed the world premiere of “Toll Road” by Amnon Wolman on November 10th at 730pm in the Recital Hall, Music Building.

The Hill Country Youth Chorus performed at the Embassy Suites, San Marcos, TX on November 11th at 4pm.
18Joint Men’s and Women’s Choir Concert
The Texas State Men’s Choir and Texas State Women’s Choir performed together in a joint concert on November 18th at 3pm in Evans Auditorium. The Texas State Women’s Choir sang selections from Benjamin Brittan’s A Ceremony of Carols and Vivaldi’s duet “Esurientes,” from Magnificat. They also sang works by Eduardo Lacksehevitz, Gwyneth Walker, Eleanor Daley and Eva Ugalde. Both the Men’s Choir and Women’s Choir collaborated with the Hill Country Youth Chorus to kick off the holiday season.

Music selections included Herbert Howells’ Requiem, a collection of spirituals, Eric Whitacre’s “Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine”, Ko Matsushita’s “Jubilate Deo”, and a rare performance of Merrill Bradshaw’s “Psalm XCVI”.

The Texas State Women’s Choir worked with five other women’s ensembles at the University of Texas San Antonio on Saturday, October 27th. Clinician for the festival was Dr. Janet Galvan from Ithaca College in New York.

The Texas State University Singers performed as part of the United We Sing concert, September 9th at 3pm in Evans Auditorium.
